Tracy Parish is active internationally as a performer, recording artist, producer, educator and adjudicator, appearing in ensembles and as a soloist and lecturer at numerous universities and music festivals in the United States, Europe and Australia. Dr. Parish has performed in some of the world's premiere concert halls including Carnegie Hall in New York and Chicago's Symphony Center.
Rapidly establishing himself as a well-known scholar, Tracy regularly publishes reviews and scholarly articles and recently published a new book, "The Late-Eighteenth Century Solo Concerto: Implications of Structure, Style, Aesthetics and Period Performance Practice" (VDM Verlag, 2009). Dr. Parish is the recipient of regional and international performance prizes and has been recognized for his academic achievements through many awards including grants, fellowships, and induction into Pi Kappa Lambda honorary music society.
Tracy currently serves as Program Coordinator for the University of Illinois Office of Public Engagement, as principal cornet of the Vintage Brass Band, second trumpet of the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, section trumpet with the Prairie Ensemble, and as a member of the solo cornet section of the Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Band.
Dr. Parish is a contributor and music reviewer for the International Trumpet Guild Journal and serves on the research paper selection committee for the International Trumpet Guild conference. Prior to his current appointment at the University of Illinois Office of Public Engagement, Tracy served as Coordinator of Outreach Programs for the University of Illinois School of Music, Coordinator of the Illinois Summer Youth Music Trumpet program, and Instructor of Trumpet and Ear Training at Illinois Central College.
